032 The Story of Apple Falls Cider: Amelia went from Orchard Employee to Craft Cider Business Owner!

032 The Story of Apple Falls Cider: Amelia went from Orchard Employee to Craft Cider Business Owner!

Hey everyone!

You’re going to love this week’s episode. I recorded it on an apple orchard (a literal dream come true for me since podcasts + apples are two of my favourite things in life!) but we get down to BUSINESS with Amelia and her dad Colin, will sipping cider!

I took away some powerful lessons from this episode. Here’s a quick synopsis:

  1. As a business owner, you should learn to be okay with financial risk

  2. Read the book The Lean Startup (HERE)

  3. Don’t talk about things, DO things!

  4. Look for grants that you can apply for

  5. If you want to start a business, make a business plan, encounter obstacles, fail, and just do it

Aside from these lessons learned, here are a few more details about today’s interview and about Apple Falls Cider…

Amelia and Matt have been making hard cider since 2012, after they fell in love with the beverage in London, England. After successfully completing their post-secondary education, Matt and Amelia visited London, England. While they were exploring the culture in London, they stumbled upon traditional hard apple cider. From then on, they were hooked.

On their return, they started experimenting with different blends of apple varieties from the family farm. Their recipe was perfected over many bottles shared with family and friends. They were destined for cider-making, obsessed with achieving exceptional taste using just one ingredient, apples.

Passionate about cider and driven to succeed, Amelia and Matt started Apple Falls Cider Company. Their cider uses 100% Campbell’s Orchards apples, hand picked from the family farm. The exceptional quality of the apples from Campbell’s Orchards directly ensures great tasting cider.

Chatting with Amelia (& bonus that I got to chat with her Dad Colin, as well!) was such a joy. We are both millennial entrepreneurs and we clicked so easily. I know you’ll be inspired by her story!

Be sure to check out their website to learn more about the cider, where to purchase it, and how you can visit them if you head to Prince Edward County!

The June Motel on Reviving the Motel Industry, Wine & Good Vibes, Launching a Biz with your Bestie

This week on the show we have Sarah Skalsh & April Brown, the founders of The June Motel (aka The June).

As longtime friends, April and Sarah decided on a whim to purchase the former Sportsman Motel in Prince Edward County. They haven’t been “moteliers” for long, but the reviews on their Motel are in and they are RAVING!

The decor of this place is dreamy, and the good wine & good vibes are the icing on the cake.

Sarah & April completely redesigned the vintage motel and re-invented the experience of what staying at a Motel looks like. What a visionary endeavor, if I have ever seen one!

I loved hearing about their journeys through the world of entrepreneurship, why they chose Prince Edward County as a place to start their business, and they also fill us in on the state of the motel industry today.

We also chat about…

  • Life before the June (what were they up to before running a Motel!?)

  • How the idea for a motel was born (it was random!)

  • What their favourite part of running The June is…

  • The inspiration for the drool worthy designs in each room of the motel

  • And all things wine, good vibes and great company

Dave and I will be spending a night at The June Motel in May, and we are SO excited to check it out in person. I’ll be sure to report back once we experience all of the glory of being there… but in the meantime, go check them out and book your weekend getaway!

Visionary Life Podcast IG (10).pngVisionary Life Podcast IG (10).png

Welcome back!

I’m really excited to share this week’s  interview with all of you.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to sit down with Ashley Meston & Phil Lebeau who are the founders of Basd Body Care.

Basd Body Care is a line of organic, plant-basd, cruelty-free products. Ashley & Phils vision behind basd was to be transparent, to use only ingredients they were proud of, and to create a brand that celebrates and nourishes all bodies.

Knowing how much insight they would have in the realms of sales & marketing, entrepreneurship, and living in an inspired state everyday; I knew that you would all love listening to this podcast episode as much as I loved recording it for you.

In this episode we chat about:

  • Why consumer education is imperative in marketing and sharing your business

  • Rituals that help Ashley and Phil perform as high level entrepreneurs

  • What they love most about being CEO’s of their own life + biz

  • The best beauty app that everyone should download immediately!

  • The importance of post secondary education in today’s self-taught era

  • What experience do you really need to launch your own business

  • The early stages of developing basd and the idea for a brand + culture, first and foremost

  • And so much more!

Founder of AWE Legal & AWE Contracts

PRESS PLAY!

Let’s talk legal!

Today on the podcast, I am chatting with Darielle Teitelbaum.

Darielle is a corporate lawyer (& a spiritual one – which we chat lots about!), and she’s the founder of Awe Legal which stands for Athletes, Wellness Professionals and Entrepreneurs. Awe Legal which is a boutique law firm based in Toronto & online.

I loved this conversation with Darielle. Her and I met less than 1 year ago through the gym that we both teach indoor cycling at here in Toronto and I’ve been in AWE (sorry bad pun) of her business since meeting.

We chat about her career evolution from working TIRELESSLY at a criminal defense firm, to her travels where she was enlightened about spiritual law, and also about things every influencers or ambassador should consider before signing with a brand.

I love how Darielle is challenging the traditional paradigm of what we expect in a lawyer and is instead paving her own visionary path using her skills and infusing her passion for wellness. She’s so approachable, knowledgeable and I know you’ll learn so much from her.
